What is a flipped classroom?
In the traditional classroom, the teacher is naturally the central focus of a lesson and the chief distributor of information during the class period. Student involvement in the traditional classroom is minimal.
However, the flipped classroom intentionally shifts the classroom from a teacher focused classroom to a learner/student focused classroom.
Flipped classrooms require teachers to change traditional classrooms by sending lessons home thus providing more face-to-face/ one-on-one time in the classroom. flipping boosts, the learning experience for both students and teachers, it enables teachers to engage with their students using videos, peer-to-peer collaboration, and individualized instruction.
How Does the Flipped Classroom Work?
*In the flipped classroom, the class is not organized around the teacher’s lessons. Instead, students are required to learn the material before class, any misunderstandings or confusions can be cleared up while the teacher is available.
*The videos can be gotten online or the teacher can send the videos to students using a classroom management software (mythware) for students to watch at home.
*Students are assigned to read textbooks or conduct online investigations outside of class. Teachers have them write responses to the readings or prepare questions to ask during class time.
*Once students are in the classroom, they can obtain one-on-one help from teachers and class assistants. The teacher may split the students up into groups to work on projects or hold discussions. Meanwhile, he or she is in the room offering help to students who have questions or who are struggling.
Why flip the classroom?
1. One of the greatest benefits of flipping is that overall interaction increases: Teacher to student and student to student. Since the role of the teacher has changed from presenter of content to learning coach, they spend their time talking to the students. They answer questions, work with small groups, and guide the learning of each student individually.
The classroom becomes a more interactive learning environment and enables students to learn at their own pace.

2. To help the teacher adapt the lesson to individual student needs. Flipped learning is customized and engaging. Teachers create learning activities that allow students to apply what they’ve learned. Group problem solving, student presentations, and whole-class discussions shift the focus of learning to the students themselves so that they can learn through experience and critical discourse. These exercises help students solidify what they’ve heard, test their comprehension and master the content.
3. Recorded lessons help student review for exams.
4. Students in flipped classrooms are more satisfied and perform better.
5. Students who are absent due to illness don't get left behind.
