#COLOURS#

Marc Jacobs said, "Colour is the finishing touch on everything."
Yes, colours make or mar your slides and videos. In what way?

Research shows that the various colors we use brings forth so many different feelings in many people.

Bearing this in mind, you want to avoid using colors that will impact negatively on your lesson presentation and delivery.

Take a look at some colour interpretations.

Black - Heavy, mournful, highly technical, formal, death

Brown - Earth, simplicity, outdoors

Blue- Peace, tranquility, trust, confidence, security

Purple- Royalty, wisdom, spirituality, mystery

Green- Nature, environment, health, reptiles, insects

Gray- Conservative, practical, reliability, security, dependable

Red- Passion, excitement, love, intensity, heat, aggression

Orange- Warmth, expansive, flamboyant

Yellow- Optimism, happiness, idealism, imagination

White- Purity, reverence, cleanliness, simplicity

TIPS FOR COLOUR COMBINATION

1. If you use a dark background, say dark blue or purple, use a lighter text colour, perhaps white or yellow.  If you use a light background, then use a dark text colour. They blend so well I can tell you.

2. You may say, "I'm not an artist. I can't possibly combine colours effectively." Fret not, there is a solution. I became good with colours by using colour palettes. I search for them on Google. I have a folder in my laptop named colours. I usually pick the one I want, insert it on my slide and use it as I work. Here is a palette generation site you may want to check out
https://coolors.co/palettes/trending
When you look at them, you will be able to combine your colours successfully.

3. Avoid using yellow fonts on a red background, red fonts on a blue background, green fonts on a red background. They cause eye strain.

The choice of colours for your slides is one of the important decisions that must be made at theplanning stage.  Try these out and see the POWER OF COLOURS.
